Copyright – It’s All About Respect. Artists interpreting one of two photographs by Peggy deWitt in their own media. Peggy deWitt's photography, on permanent display at Paper Images Gallery, captures the beauty of Prince Edward County. Over the years, her pictures have inspired many fellow artists. The "Tampered With" Art Show & Sale was conceived seven years ago when renowned local painter Ron Pickering asked if he could do a watercolour rendition of one of Peggy's photographs. Because it is illegal - not to mention unethical - to copy someone else's art (including photography) and call it your own, the "Tampered With" Art Show & Sale came into existence. It started with three artists interpreting two of Peggy's photographs in various media and has grown to as many as thirty participants. There is no age restriction and all levels of skill are represented from emerging to well- seasoned professionals. This year, the exhibition includes examples of acrylic, oil, watercolour, watercolour and ink, digital/mixed, pointallism, jewellery, sculpture, metal, mixed media, fiber, textile, and encaustic. The show provides everyone with an opportuntity to be creative, to display their work in a gallery, to network with other artists, and most of all to have fun. The "Tampered With" Art Show supports "Bridging The Gap," an after school program providing an alternative learning environment for disadvantaged children ages 6 to 12 in Quinte area.
